What Was This Project?
One of the most key aspects of the engineering design process is making sketches. These sketches help transport an idea from one's head to paper for others to more clearly see. The sketching process also lends to tweaking of the design and the visualization of it in a physical context.
It is for this reason that we are tasked with learning the basics of the sketching process and how to practically carry them out. To learn this, I have watched all eight parts of product designer Kevin Henry's course on the subject. My watching experience included note taking of key concepts, challenges that required me to put those concepts into practice, and a review of the challenges. The challenge of final section requires all of the previous concepts to be utilized in the sketching of an actual product.
This web-page includes the notes and sketches from each of the eight sections of the project: Technical Drawing Part 1, Technical Drawing Part 2, Orthographic Drawing, Perspective, Complex 2-Point Perspective Shape Challenge, Rectangular Planes with Centers, Curved Surfaces, and Final Design Sketch. Additionally, my reflection on my experience of the course is included. This web-page does not include a traditional concepts section, as all key concepts from this course are already included in my notes.

Reflection:
While my limited drawing knowledge was a definite disadvantage, I'd say this project was an overall success. The first aspect that went well was the fact my sketching did improve as the course went on. As stated earlier, sketching has never been a strength of mine, so the beginning was a bit of a struggle. But, as time went on, I felt that my sketches were starting to near a more professional state. Hopefully, this confidence will follow me into the future. My second success was my use of collaboration for this project. While this is an individual project, I worked with three of my classmates in a social distanced manner to accomplish the first four parts. This process helped stimulate the creative process as we discussed our progress and compared drawings to help each other improve.
My process through the project did have its negative aspects however. Firstly, I did not space out my workload properly. We were given 2 weeks to do this project, and while I didn't rush through the project in a few days thankfully, I did leave too much for the last few days, doing the last three parts in the span of two days. While I still did them to the best of my ability, I should have done a better job with the spacing. This is something I will keep in consideration for my Capstone project. Burnout was also an issue with this project. When I did the project for long stretches, I often got tired and the quality of my notes declined. Taking more breaks in between videos would have been more beneficial for my retainment and note taking quality.
